Stuart Ford’s IM Global was poised last night [13] to close a UK deal with Optimum on Madonna’s dual timeline drama W.E.
Earlier in the day the LA-based company licensed rights to Village Roadshow in Australia after Ford and president of international sales and distribution Jonathan Deckter worked through the night fielding offers.
Madonna gave a 35-minute presentation to buyers at the 250-seat CineStar 5 on Saturday night and showed several scenes from the film, which intertwines two love affairs: that between Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson and a contemporary storyline.
Multiple offers are in for France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Latin America and Scandinavia and the territories are expected to close imminently.
Abbie Cornish, James D’Arcy, rising UK star Andrea Riseborough, Oscar Isaac and Richard Coyle star.
“We had offers literally as people were leaving so we had a very late night,” Ford said.

British actress Andrea Riseborough is planning a move to France later this year – because she wants to experience life in a foreign country.
The Never Let Me Go star grew up in the north of England and moved to London to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, but she admits she now feels ready to leave her native Britain.
And the 29 year old insists she’s ready for the challenge of living in Paris.
She tells Britain’s InStyle magazine, “I’m moving this year. I want to explore somewhere new and improve my French. I feel very at home there.”

Sam Riley has said his Brighton Rock co-star Andrea Riseborough was “great to be horrible to”.
In the film the actor stars as Pinkie, a young mobster who cruelly manipulates his innocent girlfriend Rose, played by Andrea.
“She’s a fantastic actress. You’re only as good as the people you work with, they raise the game and she was great to be horrible to. I enjoyed it,” Sam said at the movie’s premiere in London.
Adapted from Graham Greene’s 1930s novel and updated to 1964, Brighton Rock follows Pinkie as he makes his way through the ranks of the town’s gang scene.
Sam, 31, first encountered the book in his early teens.
